Mostly the same as any car

The bodywork, wheels, glass and interior of an electric or hybrid car are cleaned exactly like a petrol or diesel car. The paint still needs safe washing and protection, the interior still collects dust, stains and odours, and the same valeting and detailing services apply. So most of what you know about car care carries straight over to an EV.

Sensible care around the electrics

The differences are about a few specific areas. The charging port and its surrounds are kept dry and treated with care, and high-voltage components, which are sealed and designed to cope with rain, are not subjected to anything careless. A professional valeter simply works sensibly around these areas. In normal valeting there is no contact with the high-voltage system at all.

Why steam suits EV interiors

Steam cleaning is a great fit for electric cars. It uses minimal water, sanitises the cabin, and cleans deeply without soaking, ideal for the often premium, tech-heavy interiors EVs come with. As EVs are frequently used for family and commuting miles, keeping the cabin fresh and clean makes the time spent in them far more pleasant.

EVs hold their value better when well presented, and a strong used market means a clean, protected car stands out.
