Why might my quote be higher than the starting price?
Starting prices assume a family hatchback or saloon that has been looked after. The things that add time, and therefore cost, are predictable:
- Size. An estate, SUV, MPV or van has more paint, more glass and more carpet to clean.
- Pet hair. Hair weaves into carpet and seat fabric and has to be worked out with brushes and rubber tools, which adds noticeable time to the interior.
- Staining and spills. Coffee, milk, sick or mud ground into fabric may need extraction or steam rather than a vacuum and wipe.
- Neglect. A car that has not been cleaned for a year carries baked-on traffic film, tar and brake dust that takes more product and passes to shift.
- Smells and mould. These need a dedicated treatment, priced separately, rather than an air freshener.
If anything on that list applies, tell us when you ask for a price. A surprise on the day is bad for both of us.
Does mobile valeting cost more than going to a hand car wash?
A roadside hand wash is often cheaper per visit, but it is usually a quicker, exterior-led job, and you drive there and wait. The comparison that matters is like for like. Our full valet covers a deep vacuum of carpets, seats and boot, the dashboard, door cards, console and vents, glass inside and out, a two-bucket hand wash, wheels and tyres, and a carnauba wax finish. It takes around 1.5 to 2.5 hours on your drive or outside your work.

Are there any hidden costs, like a call-out fee?
No. There is no call-out fee in Derby or anywhere else we cover, and we bring our own water and power, so you are not paying for your tap or socket either. We are fully insured and have more than six years' experience. We work Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm, and a weekend or out-of-hours slot can sometimes be arranged if weekdays are impossible. Ask when you book rather than assuming it costs more.
How can I keep valeting costs down over a year?
The cheapest valet is the one on a car that has not been left to get bad. A few habits make a real difference to what each visit costs:
- Wash or have the car washed regularly. The AA advises washing at least every couple of weeks to stop road salt and grime building up, and reapplying wax every couple of months.
- Use rubber mats in winter so mud stays on something that can be rinsed.
- Use a seat cover or boot liner for dogs.
