Valeting Services in Ticknall

In 1914 Sir Vauncey Harpur Crewe gave Ticknall a piped water supply, with cast iron taps made by Glenfield and Kennedy of Kilmarnock, and several of them still work. We will not need to borrow one. Every service we bring to this village on the A514, beside the Calke Abbey estate, runs on water and power carried in the van, from a hand car valet to purified-water window cleaning. Getting here from Chilham takes about 13 minutes over 6.5 road miles, and there is no call-out fee.

Seven services are on offer here: hand car valets, steam cleaning for cabins, mould treatment, care for convertible hoods, engine bay degreasing, window cleaning and valeting for business vehicles. Behind them sit full insurance, more than six years of experience and a 5.0 score on Google. Slots run from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday, with a weekend or evening visit possible on request now and then.

Which service suits which Ticknall home

This is an estate village with a long memory. The Harpur family of Calke had bought most of Ticknall parish by the 1830s, and much of it stayed in Harpur Crewe estate ownership until many properties were sold after 1981. The small Census 2021 area (LSOA) at the centre of Ticknall has 686 households. Detached homes make up 56.7% and semis 24.2%, with terraces at 14.7% and flats or other homes at 4.4%. Most households, then, have somewhere off the road for the car, though roughly one in five are likely to park at the roadside, which suits us equally well.

Car ownership is high. Well over half of households, 59.4%, run two or more, 32.7% run one and only 7.9% have none. A family car that does muddy lanes and dog walks is the natural candidate for a steam clean, while the second car may just need a regular valet. The damp is a factor: humidity averages 81% and there are 148 wet days a year, so mould treatment and soft top reproofing earn their place, and 33 frost nights bring the road salt an engine bay clean removes. Windows suit every home, and local traders can put vans on a fleet schedule.

Valeting in Ticknall: Questions

A full valet deals with the outside and gives the interior a thorough clean, so it is a good first step. If the smell is still there afterwards, or the seats are stained, interior steam cleaning goes deeper into the fabric. If the smell is musty rather than doggy, or you can see spotting on the belts or carpet, mould removal is the better choice, since it looks for the damp as well.

For many services, yes. Interior work, steam cleaning and engine bays are not affected by light rain, and purified-water window cleaning dries well even if showers follow. Soft top reproofing is the exception, because the proofer needs dry hours to cure, so that is best saved for a settled spell in late spring or early autumn. Heavy storms may mean moving the slot.

Room to pull the van up close by, and a safe spot to stand alongside the car with its doors swung wide. Off-road parking makes it simple, though a lawful place on the road is fine too, so long as nobody has to step into the traffic. The window cleaning hose runs a fair distance from the van, so if the rear glass is included, just unlock the side gate.
