Why pollen is a problem for paint

Pollen is mildly acidic, and when it lands on paint and then gets damp from rain or dew and bakes in the sun, it can etch faint marks into the surface, much like bird droppings. • Do not wipe dry pollen off with a cloth, as the fine grit scratches the paint.
• Rinse it off with water first to flush away the loose layer.
• Then wash normally with shampoo and a soft mitt.
• A wax or sealant makes pollen much easier to rinse off next time.
